Finally.....a ten month photo!

Okay, so it's literally impossible to get Luke to lie still on his back for more than a split second. He immediately gets fussy and just wants to roll away. So after a few failed attempts for his monthly photograph, I had to accept that it wasn't going to work and decided to try a different approach. Here's what  I came up with:

1-28-12
10 months old

He was much happier to be able to sit up, and even gave me a bit of a smile! Not sure how the 11 month shot will turn out, but I guess I'll only have to do this two more times!!

Here are his previous monthly photos:

Luke and His Train!

Luke has discovered how much fun it is to push his train from Marmee and Grampy! After taking this video, we did a few laps around the downstairs. Luke can't really steer yet, so we figured out if we hold the front and walk backwards, he's happy to keep pushing along!

Ten Months Old!

Okay, so I don't have my official 10 month picture yet, because it's almost impossible to get Luke to stay still! We tried to get one, but Luke was tired and cranky and wouldn't cooperate. We'll try again soon....

If I had to describe Luke in three words, they would be "on the move"! He is constantly moving and loves exploring wherever he can. He still crawls a lot, but also spends a lot of time standing up and "cruising" along the furniture. A few times we've caught him letting go and standing on his own for a few seconds(!) so I'm thinking it won't be long until he starts walking. We shall see!

Luke now has four (very sharp) teeth! While I'm glad that he's getting teeth, it's absolutely miserable when he teethes. He's very cranky and has a horrible time during the night. But then when it's over, he goes back to sleeping all night! Right now we're in the latter phase, and I'm hoping it lasts a little while before we have to start getting up three times a night again!

Luke is getting quite sophisticated with his meals. He now enjoys a variety of grown-up foods like chicken nuggets, pizza, waffles, and meatballs. He is also a big fan of yogurt. He really enjoys feeding himself, and doesn't like being spoon-fed as much anymore.

Overall, Luke is doing great and he's in a really fun stage. He's pretty happy most of the time and loves to laugh. I can't believe he's 10 months already, and I just love him so much :)

Winter Retreat

So it's Sunday night and we spent our weekend on Calvary's Winter Retreat. This was our third year helping out - Drew shoots video and edits together a recap video and I run the lyrics and videos during the main sessions. This year was obviously a bit different because we took Luke with us! I was definitely apprehensive about how everything would go, but Luke actually did really well! He ate with us in the dining hall, napped and slept in his pack and play, and during the main sessions he hung out with some great people while Drew and I did our thing. I had hoped to get more photos from the weekend, but I honestly didn't have time! Here are just a few of Luke.

This first one was when we got to our room for the weekend. The students slept in bunk beds in cabins. Thankfully, we didn't. We got a room that is basically like a hotel room, without a TV or any of the extras. Luke had been stuck in his car seat for most of the afternoon, so he was happy to get out and explore!

Here he is after Friday night's main session. Absolutely worn out. And snotty.

Naturally, when I tried to get him into his pajamas, he got a second wind and we ended up playing for another half hour or so! I put him in his pack and play while I got ready for bed, and he thought it was the best thing ever!

This is a great shot of Luke's teeth - all four of them! My little vampire....

If you liked those three photos, check out this video:

And here's Luke during lunch on Saturday. He's a big fan of his sippy cup.

And finally, here he is taking a nap on Saturday afternoon. I think it was the first retreat where I napped as well!

All in all, he did really well. And needless to say, everyone thought he was adorable :) However, by Sunday morning he was definitely exhausted, and pretty cranky to go along with it. If we help out again next year, I don't think he'll be making the trip as an almost-two-year-old. So....who wants to babysit?
