FOOD!!

Saturday was a monumental day in the Williams house - Luke began eating solid food!! Okay, so maybe not totally solid, but definitely mushy food!

He's at the point where he can almost sit up on his own, and he seems really interested in watching us eat. At his four month checkup, the doctor said to start solids at five or six months, so we decided that we were going to give it a shot! Following the doctor's orders, we got single grain rice cereal and mixed it in with Luke's formula. After the first few bites, it was pretty obvious that he was ready for food! He would lean right in and get the spoon, and actually swallow what was on it! Of course, he still managed to get it all over his face because he kept sticking his hands in his mouth.....

Overall, it went really well - better than we had expected! So the plan is to feed him solids in the evenings, when Drew and I can do it together. For the time being, he'll just take bottles during the day while he's at the babysitter's (which starts on Tuesday).

I'm so excited that he's reached this stage!

(Although I feel that we've crossed a line into a whole new world of messiness.....and there's no turning back!)

Luke's Dedication

I totally forgot to mention this on the blog!

Last Sunday (August 21st), Luke was dedicated in the morning service at church. It was neat because it was Beau's first child dedication. I didn't take any pictures, since we were standing up front, but dad got a great shot of Beau holding Luke.

Afterwards we had a small get-together at our house to celebrate. We intended to have an outdoor cookout, but the weather was gross and rainy, so we moved it inside. Luke actually ended up napping almost the whole time, but woke up in time for a few pictures!

Thursday Night Dinner

On Thursday we had a yummy dinner at Mum and Dad's. For the first time ever, the whole family was together! Unfortunately, dad had to dash away to pick up a group of people that needed to leave Ocean City before Hurricane Irene arrived.

It doesn't really look like it from the photos, but Luke had a great time hanging out with Jon, Lindsay, Audrie, Phil, and Mum! He was excited to wear his Eagles onesie for the first time as well. :)

First Week of School!

Hard to believe I'm back at school already! Last week I had inservice days, and this week the students returned. Luke has been having a great time with Grandma at home! And....Luke is getting to be a pro at rolling over!

Here are a few pics from this week:

Five Months Old!

Believe it or not, Luke is five months old today!!

Right now he's a big fan of playing with his feet, grabbing things and putting them in his mouth, and squealing. He's so close to rolling over - he almost got it today. He just can't quite figure out what to do with his arms when he tries to roll onto his tummy......

As I mentioned in one of my last posts, he's gotten really good at playing in his Exersaucer. You can definitely tell that his back is getting stronger. He loves to stand up and have you hold his arms. I'm hoping that soon he'll be able to sit up on his own.

Drew and I tried to weigh him on our bathroom scale, and we got about 13lb. 4oz.. I'm sure that's not exactly right, but I imagine it's close. He was 12lb. 1oz. at his 4 month visit, so he's gained about a pound. We take him in for his 6 month check up on September 20th.

We've decided that once he can sit up on his own, we're going to start giving him solid foods (the doctor said to start at five or six months). I'm looking forward to seeing how he likes it! He's been eyeing up our food when Drew and I eat, so I'm hoping that he'll really be into it when we start.

Here's his 5 month picture:

It's a bit blurry, but it was our favorite of all of the pictures I took. His happy personality shows in this photo, whereas he didn't really want to smile in any of the other ones.

Thursday Night Dinner

Tonight we went to Grandma and Grandad's house for dinner, as we do every Thursday night. Tonight was special as it was the first time all of the kids were there! (Hannah/Drew, Jon/Lindsay, Phil/Audrie) Unforunately, Dad was working, so he couldn't join us. Hopefully next week it'll be a full house.

Fun in the Exersaucer

Luke has finally begun to realize how fun his Exersaucer can be! We first tried putting him in it about a month ago, and he really didn't like it. He wasn't very steady, and would sort of wobble back and forth in the seat, so we would stuff blankets all around him. Even though Drew and I thought all of the toys looked like great fun, Luke seemed to be quite overwhelmed. Needless to say, he didn't enjoy it at all.

However, now when we put him in it, he really seems to enjoy it!! Over the past few weeks, he's gotten so good at "standing" on our laps, and I think that's really improved how well he can hold himself up in the Exersaucer. He has much more control now, and is actually interested in the toys. Well, at least one of the toys! Here are a few pictures......

Catching Up....

It's been a fun past few days!

On Wednesday evening we went to Drew's parents' for dinner. Luke had a great time hanging out with Marmee and Grampy.....

On Thursday evening we went to Uncle Phil's soccer game at LCBC. We had a nice time hanging out in the grass and watching the game (they won the championship!)

Luke's been doing well sitting in his high chair, so I thought I'd try adding the tray......but it's still a bit big.

Tomorrow is Grampy's birthday, so we celebrated today by having a delicious lunch with the family. Here are some photos from hanging out in the front yard....
