Winter Retreat

So it's Sunday night and we spent our weekend on Calvary's Winter Retreat. This was our third year helping out - Drew shoots video and edits together a recap video and I run the lyrics and videos during the main sessions. This year was obviously a bit different because we took Luke with us! I was definitely apprehensive about how everything would go, but Luke actually did really well! He ate with us in the dining hall, napped and slept in his pack and play, and during the main sessions he hung out with some great people while Drew and I did our thing. I had hoped to get more photos from the weekend, but I honestly didn't have time! Here are just a few of Luke.

This first one was when we got to our room for the weekend. The students slept in bunk beds in cabins. Thankfully, we didn't. We got a room that is basically like a hotel room, without a TV or any of the extras. Luke had been stuck in his car seat for most of the afternoon, so he was happy to get out and explore!

Here he is after Friday night's main session. Absolutely worn out. And snotty.

Naturally, when I tried to get him into his pajamas, he got a second wind and we ended up playing for another half hour or so! I put him in his pack and play while I got ready for bed, and he thought it was the best thing ever!

And here's Luke during lunch on Saturday. He's a big fan of his sippy cup.

And finally, here he is taking a nap on Saturday afternoon. I think it was the first retreat where I napped as well! 

All in all, he did really well. And needless to say, everyone thought he was adorable :) However, by Sunday morning he was definitely exhausted, and pretty cranky to go along with it. If we help out again next year, I don't think he'll be making the trip as an almost-two-year-old. So....who wants to babysit?

Luke and Daisy

 All of a sudden, Luke is completely enamored with Daisy! Anytime she's around he just wants to go over and touch her. She'll typically put up with it for a few minutes, then make a break for it.

Luke is also really into talking right now!

Trying some new foods....

So we've been experimenting with giving Luke different finger foods to try. Last night we were eating grilled cheese for dinner, so we gave Luke a little, and he loved it! He just kept popping the pieces in his mouth and really seemed to like it!

Tonight Luke finally mastered a new skill during dinner......

Clapping!! He's always laughed and smiled when we clap, and it seemed like he was getting close. Video coming soon! 

Big-Boy Pajamas!

Luke got these great pajamas for Christmas - a separate shirt and pants. He looks so grown up!

All of a sudden Luke has taken an interest in being read to! He used to just try to chew on his books, but now he really seems to enjoy sitting in your lap and being read to.
