Saturday was a monumental day in the Williams house - Luke began eating solid food!! Okay, so maybe not totally solid, but definitely mushy food!
He's at the point where he can almost sit up on his own, and he seems really interested in watching us eat. At his four month checkup, the doctor said to start solids at five or six months, so we decided that we were going to give it a shot! Following the doctor's orders, we got single grain rice cereal and mixed it in with Luke's formula. After the first few bites, it was pretty obvious that he was ready for food! He would lean right in and get the spoon, and actually swallow what was on it! Of course, he still managed to get it all over his face because he kept sticking his hands in his mouth.....

Overall, it went really well - better than we had expected! So the plan is to feed him solids in the evenings, when Drew and I can do it together. For the time being, he'll just take bottles during the day while he's at the babysitter's (which starts on Tuesday).
I'm so excited that he's reached this stage!
(Although I feel that we've crossed a line into a whole new world of messiness.....and there's no turning back!)
