Luke is becoming a pro at sleeping during the night! Last night was really good - he ate at 1:00am and 4:00am, then 7:30am. And thankfully he's beginning to get in a good routine - eat, get a clean diaper, then go back to sleep. We got his 1:00am feeding down to 30 minutes! It's definitely a manageable schedule for me, and I'm no longer feeling exhausted like I was when we first came home from the hospital. And he definitely takes after me in regards to sleeping in.....after that 7:30am feeding, he goes right back to sleep until about 10:30am, which is fine with me! It gives me the chance to get a little extra sleep. Although soon enough I'll need to start training myself to get up earlier in preparation for going back to work.....but for the time being I'm not going to worry about it!
For the first time, I successfully took a shower while Luke hung out in his bouncy chair in the bathroom. I've discovered that getting a shower is crucial to having a good day. The days that I spend in my pajamas I find it harder to get things done and end up sitting around the house. But when I take a shower and get dressed, I have much more energy to get things doneA ! After I got showered and dressed, I moved Luke around with me from room to room as I straightened up the nursery and our bedroom. He was happy enough to sit in his bouncy chair and watch as I cleaned up.
After that we headed downstairs and let Daisy out, then I got some lunch. Again, Luke was happy to sit and watch, so I took the opportunity to empty the dish washer, get the kitchen straightened up, and put in a load of laundry.
I had planned to take Luke out for a walk in the stroller this afternoon, but I really felt like getting out of the house - so that's what we did! Drew and I were given a second car seat base as a baby shower gift, so I got it out and fastened it in my backseat. I made sure Luke was fed and changed, then we were ready to go! It was a bit strange, as I hadn't driven at all since before Luke was born - Friday, March 18th to be exact. We decided that the best place to go would be to visit Drew at work, so we headed off to Davco Advertising to surprise him!
He was very surprised (and happy) to see us! We hung out for a little while and introduced Luke to everyone at Davco. From there, we decided to go and visit Mum at work. It took a little longer than expected, due to the ridiculous amount of school buses we encountered.....but once we arrived, Mum was very happy to see us :)
After that we headed home, and Drew got home shortly after that. Luke and I were pretty tired from all the driving around, so we both took a nap while Drew showered and got changed.
We headed over to Mum and Dad's house at 7pm for our weekly Thursday night dinner with Mum, Phil, and Audrie (Dad is away on a bus trip). We had a really nice meal and Luke enjoyed hanging out with everyone.
Once we got home, it took a little while for Luke to get sleepy, as he'd slept a lot during the day - especially in his car seat! But now he's warm and cozy in bed, and it's time for to me to do the same!
So proud of my baby who's becoming a 'pro' at taking care of her baby...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting at work - a lovely surprise.
